About Us

We follow CrossFit’s method of performing constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity that will carry over into your everyday life and improve your health and in turn, quality of life.

We want to train you but also get to know you and support you in any way that we can as you embark on your health and fitness journey. Our community encourages one another to do their best and never give up.

We work with any fitness level and age and modify workouts so that anyone and everyone can participate. Every workout is different, some more cardio-centric than others and some containing more body movements. But one thing is always the same: We want you to leave feeling accomplished and proud of yourself.

Our Fitness Philosophy

In order to allow everyone to access the fitness we provide, CrossFit Christiansburg offers scaled movements to help you progress at a rate that takes your current health level into account. Our mission is to help people move better, feel better, and get stronger. No matter if we are coaching a homemaker, a teacher, a police officer, or a high school athlete, our vision is the same-to provide accessible movements to improve and facilitate health for a lifetime.



Chris Goad

I love fitness! I’ve always been involved in sports and working out in some capacity, whether it be football, lifting weights, snowboarding or coaching wrestling. I love the challenging workouts, camaraderie and encouragement the CrossFit community provides versus solo training in the gym. No workout is ever the same and I’ve really enjoyed pushing myself to be better than I was the day before. I love coaching and seeing others meet and achieve their own goals. When I’m not instructing or working out myself, I’m usually spending time with my wife, Jenny and our three-year-old son or watching college football—Go Spartans!

Allison McCoy

I have been active all or my life. I grew up playing competitive volleyball and I became an avid runner after college. By 2016, I was bored with my standard gym routine and decided to try a CrossFit class. I’ve been hooked ever since! CrossFit brought back the competitive spirit and community I was missing. As a coach, I love helping others learn new skills and cheering on their progress. Every WOD presents a new challenge and that is what makes it fun!

Mike Finney

Mike Finney is a head coach at CrossFit Christiansburg. Specializing in improving human movements.I am very passionate about success for everyone. I enjoy hearing that someone has achieved a goal that they had set for themselves. That’s what I want to hear. That’s one of the reasons I love what I do at CrossFit Christiansburg. Prior to joining CrossFit, I played in several sports including baseball, track and field and basketball. Formerly in the U.S. Navy for eight years and a local business owner for last 20 years.

Daniel Ferrell

200 hour yoga teacher training

I have been into fitness my whole life. I grew up playing football and wound up playing that through college. In the last 20 years I have been trying to maintain my fitness and quality of life. That pretty much consisted of going to the gym and doing the traditional arm day, leg day, back day etc…BORING! About 12 years ago I ventured into a yoga class. I fell in love with it immediately.   It was so unique and different from my previous experience.  For a little over a  decade I have practiced yoga and in 2017 I earned my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification from In Balance Yoga in Blacksburg, Virginia. It was not until 6 years ago that I discovered CrossFit. The intensity of the workouts was exactly what I was looking for. By combining yoga and CrossFit, I feel as though I am able to achieve the levels of fitness that keep me happy. It has also been important to me to offer yoga to my CrossFit family.  I have been teaching Yoga at CrossFit Christiansburg ever since!

Every single day, at some point, I catch myself uttering the words:

“This is why we do CrossFit”.

Often it’s multiple times a day.

Whether attempting to carry all the groceries down the driveway in one trip, climbing trees with our little monsters, taking the shirt off at the lake or racing for the last cookie; CrossFit simply makes us better at life.

Since joining CrossFit Christiansburg, I’m happier. I practice healthier habits.

My idea of exercise and fitness has evolved and improved.

I have gained real friends who add value to my journey.

Most importantly, I have come to put more effort and more intention into all that matters to me.

Coaching is not only exciting, but so gratifying as well. When you get to participate in a person’s success up close, it is a genuinely unique privilege.

A true win-win interaction.

Jennifer Goad

Hi friends! I’m Jenny, coach/new member coordinator and handle social media, events , etc. Weightlifting is my jam! I love holding a barbell in my hands. The cardio part is still growing on me but I’m getting better at it everyday! I absolutely love seeing people push themselves at the box and I get an adrenaline rush when people do things they once were not able to. In the event that I’m not actually coaching, working out or sneaking up on others and taking their pictures while they work out, you can find me watching CrossFit on tv, and hanging out with my fellow CrossFitting husband, Chris and my awesome five year old (who also aspires to be a CrossFit athlete). Are you noticing I am slightly obsessed with CrossFit? It’s because it’s done such wonderful things for me and made a forever impact on my life. My heart bleeds for our box. I think that’s why I take so much pride in what we do. We are more than just a gym. We are a close-knit community, helping people from all walks of life improve their health in one way or another. Plus, it’s so much FUN! Come hang out with us! I can’t wait to meet you!

Coach Kaleb here!  I’m a coach here because of the community that is CFCB.  Being involved in organized sport nearly my whole life I have never been around a more supportive, fun and driven group of people!  Showing up each day with like minded people and a devotion to bettering yourself is what gets it done!  Starting Crossfit in my 30’s has been life changing.  I have been lucky to introduce and share this journey with my wife Rachel who may be more competitive than I, finding a great deal of success as well!  I have found new abilities in various body movements and gymnastics and tapping into feats of strength I never thought I could again.  Understanding what this change has done for my mental, emotional and physical well being gives me passion to share it with others.  We are glad you are here with us so leave ego at the door, drink the kool aid and enjoy the ride!  3, 2, 1…. Janie Adkins

I’m Janie! I’m originally from Danville, VA but have spent the last 7 years in this area. I’m currently in veterinary school at VMCVM and recently joined the coaching team here. I was always involved in sports and led a very active lifestyle throughout my childhood and college.  As I entered my 20s, I began looking for a way to stay active. I quickly found that going to an average gym to run on a treadmill or use some of the machines left me bored and unsatisfied and I would quickly move on to try something else. I eventually found CrossFit and fell in love with it. I enjoy how every workout is different, enabling me to see constant personal improvement and growth. I especially love the CrossFit community. I have seldom encountered a community as positive and supportive.

Hey yall!  What can I say I love crossfit!  Growing up i was super active playing sports all throughout high school.  After I graduated I got relaxed in the mundane part of life for several years.  One day I realized I was missing that active part of my life so I joined a “normal” gym.  I did the classes and tried working out on my own but still something was missing.  It wasn’t until a couple years ago I decided to take a crossfit intro class which I had always thought to be intimidating.  WOW I was hooked without any intimidation at all.  It was everything I had been missing.  The push i needed for myself, a release from the everyday stress-related aspects of life, and the feeling of belonging to a team, well actually a FAMILY!   Crossfit makes me a better Momma to my beautiful daughter and gives her a positive role model to look up to in being a strong woman not just a skinny one.  Christiansburg Crossfit has helped me in a lot of tough times in the past year.  Wouldnt trade this place or the people for anything!
